Not only is this apple pie simple to prepare, its rustic, old-fashioned appearance often gets several ooh's and ahh's across the holiday table.
Makes one 9-inch pie
4 gala apples, thinly sliced
4 honey crisp or granny smith apples, thinly sliced
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground all spice
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 ready-to-bake pie crust
dairy-free whipped cream, optional
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
In a large bowl, mix together apple slices, sugar, and spices. Set aside.
Unroll the pie crust onto a baking sheet and arrange apple slices in the center, leaving 1 inch off the edge free. Fold the edges of the pie crust up and over the apples, as shown in the photo.
Bake for about 35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Serve warm with a dollop of dairy-free whipped cream.
Enjoy!
